I must admit this is the first book I have read by Elizabeth Rose, but it will not be the last, of that I am certain! This author's talent shines through as your attention is captured from the first page and the last page only leaves you wanting more and more.This is a prequel to the Dagger Series and I can't wait to read the entire series. The story explains the lengths the heroine goes to in order to bear her beloved husband children, a deal she makes to conceive, and the price she must pay for her wishes. This is one you will want to read prior to beginning the Dagger Series.
Although a prequel and not a full length novel by the time you reach the last page you want to begin the first book of the series and you definitely want the next one on hand. I highly recommend this author!

At first glance this is too short and not revealing enough to satisfy my love of Highland Historical reading. However, it intrigued me enough to want to read about each of the daughters and I loved the ending about Onyx being mistakenly left for dead, but is he? I have read Elizabeth Rose's previous books and am glad that I love her style enough to know that this is just a teaser!!!!! Can't wait to read all of the daughters stories and the story of Onyx!!!
You barely know about the people you barely know about her when you know they're mysterious but you don't get enough story about them or background about them so at the end you really don't care about them it should've gotten more emotional more about the Earl of Blackpool and why he is so against superstition or wichcraft and why would she so desperate
This short story introduces us to the Daughters of the Dagger series. Even though it is not necessary to read it before starting the series it gives the reader an idea of what is to come. As heart-breaking as the story is its lesson is important - greed has consequences. The story is well written and I am looking forward to reading the whole series.
This a a short prequel and sets up the story of the daughters of a misguided woman, and the brother we believe is lost to them as a 'dead' infant. Witches, and mystical powers unleashed, along with the love of a woman for her husband makes me say "Where is the next book!" I love the character names and cannot wait to see how the family makes its way in the world. (Plus I love the paranormal mixed up with historicals). This is the first book I have ever read. I plan to more of her works.
In DAUGHTERS OF THE DAGGER, the prequel to the Daughters of the Dagger historical romance series,Elizabeth Rose offers up the story of a woman desperate for children. Lady Mirabelle deBurgh is so desperate for them, she relies on superstition and goes behind her husband’s back to purchase jeweled daggers from an old blind woman. The reason? Rumor says such action will help a woman conceive.
But things don’t quite go as Lady Mirabelle intends.
A short and rather dark, novella, the story of DAUGHTERS OF THE DAGGER moves along at a quick pace. I found it an intriguing read on a rainy afternoon and look forward to reading more of Elizabeth Rose’s work.
Since she only wanted to give her husband children and had not been able to, she took four gold coins from him and went to the old blind woman for daggers according to superstition. She only had enough money to purchase four jeweled daggers, not all five of them. She heard the tale of each dagger and took her choice of four daggers. She stole the fifth, but dropped and broke the black opal. She also refused a beggar boy four times. The Old woman told her the punishment for theft and refusing the boy.
She gave her husband four beautiful, healthy daughters. She became pregnant again and knew her punishment was coming due. Sure enough she lost her true love by death. What of the baby boy? You'll have to read the prequel and find out.
Each book in the series of Highland tales tell is a unique story where we learned about particular characters in the family while we still have contact with some of the other family members with whom we are already familiar. The stories are well written the plots are Different in each story and you really have no sense of the direction the tale will take. I found myself looking forward to the next book. It's one of those series that makes you keep turning the pages until you get to the end of the book. When you get to the end of the series it's like you're saying goodbye to old friends. If you like Highlander romance I don't see how this book could disappoint.
