This is a GREAT book and a GREAT series. Characters, situations, story all fantastic. Started book on vacation and could not put down. Since it's obvious I love the author why on earth could I hate him??? Because he makes me wait for each book!!! And now there will be a fourth book!!??This is a series I love so much I suspect when part 4 comes out I'll re-read the whole series. And last word to Mr. Watts, write faster please.

The reason I give just three stars is not because the books were dull, but there where areas that where a little to technical and if you weren't a helicopter pilot and in the navy you would get lost with all the military lingo. I feel that the three book series could have been condensed to two books. Many of the side stories I felt were not necessary to advance the novel.
Buy the whole series, turn off the tv and get ready for “can’t put it down, I really need to go to bed “ reading sessions! This series has it all! Espionage, intrigue, action, family, military life, and more. What would it look like if China attacked America and its allies? How would they do it? Why? Where would they start? Excellent read!
The books follow a family of a active duty Navy Admiral, 2 sons and a daughter. The action starts with one son being duped by a Chinese spy and being kidnapped and held in a remote location along with 20 other American being told they were part of a CIA group studying a proposed war with China. The story is developed in a series of 3 books, dealing capture, escape and counter espionage. The story moves right along and is difficult to put down. The only draw back was waiting for the release of the next book.
Not quite Tom Clancy, not W.E.B Griffin, but there's not a whole lot of daylight between the 3 of them either, in my humble opinion.
Great character development, the background is fleshed out well, but there's still a wee bit of clutter and loss of tempo during scene/chapter transitions.
An excellent job of bringing the reader into the private lives of the men and women who have dedicated themselves to the conflict of ideas and worldview in an advanced civilization.

Excellent action in the plot and intriguing story. Very thought provoking. At times a little you had to really stretch your imagination. Anyone who enjoys a page turner and a thought provoking story line should read the series. I am looking forward to the next books he has written. The author’s background lends a great deal of credibility to military and technology written on in the books. I believe 4 stars were a deserved rating for the 3 books! Download and see if you agree with me.
I read this trilogy in two days and I recommend that others do also. Several reviewers allude to a fourth volume, but I do not know what book that is. Each of the books ends strangely. You are sure that there is more to the story, but the ending of each is neither a cliff hanger nor a conclusion. I did enjoy the story. I thought it fresh and innovative and the pace kept me reading in part because it was even without major highs and lows. The characters are believable and mostly likeable and their individual tension combine to create a thrilling read.
This third installment of the "War Planners" series neatly wraps things up -- too neatly in my opinion. The notion that all of this could go on without everyone knowing what was what seemed implausible to me. No spoilers here, but readers of this third installment will likely see what I mean, even if some of you disagree with me.
The helicopter pilot daughter is the central character of this third installment, and the author seems to be making a rather forced case in favor of women in the military in combat roles. My no-spoilers policy does not allow me to say more.
On the plus side, this novel kept me interested and turning the pages. RJB.
